Spay/Neuter Certificates

Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions is offering a LIMITED number of low cost spay (for females) and neuter (for males) certificate program just for rabbits. Because we have a limited number, certificates are issued ONLY as they become available and issued on a first come, first served basis. This program is designed to help those who would otherwise not be able to afford spaying or neutering their pet rabbit because of cost.

Program Goals:

To prevent unnecessary litters. ORCA does not support ANY type of breeding, whether it be accidental, one time, “backyard” breeding or commercial breeding.
To help curb behavior issues like urine spraying, broken litterbox habits, aggressiveness and fighting that might otherwise cause a rabbit to be abandoned or given up
Spaying and neutering lowers the occurrences of uterine, mammary or ovarian cancer in females and testicular cancer in males.

To assist in our mission, Dr. Diaz with Lake Howell Animal Clinic is working with us to discount the surgical cost and we are paying the difference between the cost of the certificate and the cost of the surgery. The cost of a neuter certificate for the surgery only is $65.00. The cost of a spay (surgery only) is $75.00. Please note that Lake Howell Animal Clinic is not administering these certificates. Please do not contact them regarding purchasing a certificate.

The certificate covers ONLY the surgical procedure and anesthesia. There are additional costs to the bunny parent. Please do not complete this application until you have obtained a quote from Lake Howell Animal Clinic (407-628-8000) so that you fully understand the cost of the spay/neuter procedure and the portion that we are discounting.

Certificates are issued by Orlando Rabbit Care.
Lake Howell Clinic can only provide you with a quote for the procedure.

Rabbits are an exotic animal with specialized medical and aftercare needs. The cost of a rabbit spay or neuter IS NOT the same as for a dog or cat. Our program provides for a significant discount in the cost of surgical procedure but does not cover all costs involved. Again, please do not complete this application until you understand and accept the full and responsible costs for caring for your pet rabbit.

Conditions:

Certificates are available to Central Florida residents only
Certificates are good only at Lake Howell Animal Clinic for rabbit spay or neuter surgeries performed by Dr. Diaz.
The certificate covers ONLY the cost of the spay/neuter surgical procedure and anesthesia. There are additional costs involved and we require you to obtain an estimate from Lake Howell Animal Clinic prior to requesting a certificate.
Additional costs include but are not limited to: health check (if the rabbit has not been seen by Lake Howell Animal Clinic previously), bloodwork (if needed) medical waste fees, post-op and/or pain medications, complications or follow-up visits. These costs are the full responsibility of the bunny parent .
No more than 2 certificates will be sold to any individual/address and are issued at the sole discretion of the ORCA Board of Directors.
Certificates must be reviewed and approved by Orlando Rabbit Care PRIOR TO scheduling the spay or neuter. Note that there is a waiting list for certificates and only a limited number of certificates are issued each quarter.
The certificate must be issued to and paid for by the bunny parent and used within 30 days of purchase. Absolutely NO refunds will be issued unless it is determined the rabbit is unfit for surgery.
Certificates are for the use of bunny parents only and may not be used by shelters or rescuers.

If you wish to apply for a certificate, please complete the form below. The application will be reviewed and we will let you know if the request has been approved. Note that a limited number of certificates are available per quarter and we will not contact you until a certificate becomes available. Please do not submit your entry more than once as only the newest request will be kept which will delay your possible inclusion in the program. Please note that certificates are administered and issued by Orlando Rabbit Care, not by Lake Howell Animal Clinic.
